Virtual Reality in Artovation Class for 6th Graders
Our 6th grade students in Ms. Nasser's Artovation classes are using the WildXR app with VR headsets to explore wild animals up close, learning about their unique characteristics and the environments where they live. After completing their research, each student will bring their animal to life by building a model from cardboard and adding coding features to make it interactive. The final creations will be brought together in a hands-on “Petting Zoo” experience designed especially for our preschool students. This project combines science, technology, engineering, art, and empathy—allowing our older students to apply their learning in a creative way while inspiring curiosity in our youngest learners.

Digital Resources for October
October-themed Bitmoji libraries give elementary students and teachers a fun way to explore digital resources with a seasonal twist. These interactive libraries can include books, videos, games, and learning activities connected to fall, Halloween, and other October celebrations. They make accessing curriculum-aligned resources more engaging while building excitement for learning.

ST Math
Our K–3 students are strengthening their problem-solving skills with ST Math, a program that uses fun puzzles and games to teach math concepts. With JiJi the penguin guiding them along the way, students are building confidence while learning at their own pace. This program helps lay a strong foundation in math for all our youngest learners.

End of School Year Resources for Teachers and Students
Reflecting on the school year for elementary students is a great way to wrap up the school year. Here are several digital resources that students can use to share their experiences.
Use Google Takeout and Flash Drive to save your Google Files
Attention 6th Grade students: The Middleton Schools Google accounts for our 6th graders will be suspended on July 1st. If a 6th grade student would like to save their flies from their elementary school they need to copy their work to a flash drive using "Google Takeout". Here are the instructions:

Finding Balance with Technology
Finding balance with technology is essential for elementary students because it supports healthy development across all areas—social, emotional, physical, and cognitive. While technology can be a powerful tool for learning and creativity, too much screen time can limit opportunities for face-to-face interaction, active play, and hands-on exploration. Encouraging a mix of tech use and offline activities helps children build critical life skills like problem-solving, collaboration, and self-regulation, while also protecting their sleep, attention, and overall well-being.

"Howe We Talk' Podcast Launched at Howe Manning
Sixth graders in Ms. Nasser's enrichment classes at Howe Manning Elementary School are taking the lead as writers, hosts, editors, and producers of an exciting new student-led podcast - "Howe We Talk". This collaborative project empowers students to explore topics that matter to them—from school events and local news to interviews with teachers, peers and community members—while building real-world skills in research, storytelling, technology, and communication. Using podcast equipment that was generously donated by a PTO grant, along with learning about editing tools, students script episodes, record conversations, add music and sound effects, and publish their final product for the school community to enjoy. The podcast gives students a voice, fosters teamwork, and brings fresh energy to school storytelling.
Our first podcasts "Kid Slang" and "Advice for Life" have been published to Spotify for Podcasters. We are in the middle of our next two episodes, "Haunted Middleton" and "Winsor Manor". Follow us "HoweManningPodcasters" and "Howe We Talk".
A big THANK YOU to our Middleton PTO for providing a grant for podcast equipment. We are truly grateful!
